Our Story

Gear born inside real sessions.

Undertone Audio exists because a working record producer kept needing equipment that did not exist.

Eric Valentine has spent his career behind the console, producing and engineering records for artists including Queens of the Stone Age, Third Eye Blind, Smash Mouth, Good Charlotte, and Maroon 5. Undertone Audio is what happened when the tools in the room could not keep up with the records being made in it.

The flagship UnFairchild 670M II started as the most audacious version of that idea: rebuild the Fairchild 670, one of the most coveted and time-tested compressors ever made, with the reliability and flexibility a modern session demands. Not a museum copy. A working instrument.

The same thinking runs through the whole line. The MPDI-4 carries the UTA console preamp into a single rack space. The UTEQ500 puts the console EQ into the 500 series. The GB Tracker exists because committing to an amp sound on day one keeps being the wrong call. The Vari-Cap exists because even the cable is part of the record.

Everything is hand-built, sold through dealers who know the gear, and documented like it matters. And you can watch all of it get used, on real records, on the Making Records with Eric Valentine channel.
